There’s one born every minute

by on April 13, 2016

How true is that? Well, if we are to believe Amazon et al, it’s probably at lot more than one book born every minute. Of course a book. What else would I be talking about? Well yes, all right, babies and fools and I have some experience of both. Well, who hasn’t? Fortunately, babies play a small part in my life now. Either I can hand them back after a cursory glance (or sniff) or else they belong to friends, and so can be admired from a safe distance.

Sorry, seem to have got sidetracked again. That’s quite a common fault of mine, one that’s nearly as common as the over use of the humble comma when I’m writing. In fact, according to my editor, the comma key may be the single most used key on my keyboard.  I thought it would have been a vowel or something – certainly not one of the keys with the strange blue things that hang around at the top of the keyboard. I’ve never in my life used one of those, and have to confess that I don’t even know what they are for. Do they have a use? Or are they a sort of strange, arcane and intricate decoration? Or even there to confuse people into thinking that they have a use or function besides being purely decorative and doubtless adding a few quid to the price of the laptop?

Anyway, yes, where was I? Oh yes, birthing books. It is easily as fraught as birthing children it seems, although with less bloodshed. The level of drugs and screaming is about the same, judging from anecdotal evidence which doesn’t apply to me. Not at all, no. Honest.

Moving swiftly on, the point of this otherwise pretty pointless rambling is to remind everyone out there that I actually have another book coming out. The House Next Door, the third in my Paranormal Mystery collection, and again featuring some of the usual suspects.

‘Mister Jones thought that he was finished with the world of the paranormal: but the paranormal world hadn’t finished with him…

When Sheila Balsam finds herself compelled to buy a genuine antique in a strange little shop, she didn’t bargain for what came with the statuette – and Mister Jones finds himself once again drawn into the dangerous world of the paranormal : this time via the house next door.

An ancient evil has found a way to break from his enchanted prison and the only one who is going to stand in his way is the unfortunate Mister Jones, who seems destined to live in interesting times.

The House Next Door is the third in the highly regarded ‘Mister Jones’ collection of paranormal mysteries

What reviewers have said about the first two books: The Showing & Portrait of A Girl

‘An old-fashioned Dennis Wheatley feel’

‘A mad rush into danger that classic Horror lovers will adore’

‘The further I read, the more difficulty I had putting it down’

‘Entertaining, well-written, with a chilling ending!’

I would commend the book to the House, but Politicians are too evil and unsavoury even for me to write about them.
